Rook Irwin Sweeney acts for the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain in their application to intervene in the ‘lockdown’ judicial review
Rook Irwin Sweeney has applied on behalf of the IWGB Union to intervene in the judicial review brought by Simon Dolan, in which Mr Dolan asserts that England’s lockdown was introduced unlawfully, and disproportionately breaches freedoms protected by the European Convention on Human Rights. It is the IWGB’s position that the Claimant’s arguments are hopeless and that his application for permission to seek judicial review is a political stunt. However, the importance, rather than the merits, of the issues to ordinary working people mean that the IWGB should be heard.
The IWGB will submit that the main issue should not be whether the initial actions were overly restrictive, but whether the government took swift enough action. Their full press statement can be found here: https://iwgb.org.uk/en/post/dolan_case_intervention
