Litigation Assistant role

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Litigation Assistant.

The Firm

Rook Irwin Sweeney LLP is a specialist public law and human rights firm in England and Wales. The Partners are experienced public law & human rights lawyers who have acted in many leading public law cases over the last decade. The firm has a particular focus on the rights and interests of disabled children and adults and their families, and the three Partners have successfully taken cases to secure their rights to the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

All three Partners are highly ranked in the legal directories and are recognised as leaders in their fields. Two of the firm’s Partners are based in London and a Partner and solicitor are based in Bristol.

The Role

Following our launch in April 2020, we are now looking for a Litigation Assistant to provide administrative support and carry out some basic fee earning work to support our lawyers. Day to day tasks include electronic file opening, maintaining records, preparation of letters and documents, e-filing, liaison with experts, court and counsel. The successful candidate would be expected to work from home and would have regular interaction with the team via online platforms.

Who we are looking for:

This role will suit a motivated and enthusiastic individual with at least 2 years’ experience in administration, ideally in a legal setting, and who is committed to gaining knowledge and experience as a Litigation Assistant. Although this role will include some basic fee earning tasks, the role is primarily administrative and would not be suited to someone who is seeking to progress a career as a solicitor.

Successful candidates will have:

  • at least 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
  • excellent IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience of using case management systems.
  • excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • experience and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a team, as well as being comfortable using their own initiative.

The Benefits

We offer a competitive salary starting from £24,000 per annum, dependent on geographical location and experience. Rook Irwin Sweeney LLP has an unlimited annual leave policy and a flexible working policy. Employees will also have access to a 24 hour employee assistance programme.

Rook Irwin Sweeney LLP is an Equal Opportunities Employer and committed to supporting the wellbeing of its staff.

How to apply

Please provide your current CV and a covering letter, explaining why you consider that you are a suitable candidate for the role, to Samantha Patrick at sam.patrick@rislaw.co.uk, no later than 5pm on 23 November 2020.
