Celebrating our pro bono work this Pro Bono Week 2022

7 – 11 November 2022 is Pro Bono Week, where the profession celebrates the pro bono work of lawyers. We are proud of the pro bono work we do at Rook Irwin Sweeney.
In April, we acted for learning disability campaigners Pembrokeshire People First, supported by the British Institute for Human Rights, to ensure that the consultation on Human Rights Act Reform was fully accessible for those who needed it.
Rook Irwin Sweeney founding Partner Anne-Marie Irwin is a proud member of the Environmental Law Foundation’s professional pro bono scheme, through which she has been advising our client on her rights under the Equality Act.
We also acted pro bono for an elderly man to ensure that he could remain at home at the end of his life surrounded by his family, rather than be moved to a nursing home.
Although this week is about celebrating the work of pro bono lawyers, it can be no substitute for a properly funded legal aid system and we will continue to campaign for a well-funded, well functioning legal aid system to ensure access to justice for those who need it.
